About us
The Riga Maternity Hospital (RMH) is the country's largest and most modern delivery assistance and prenatal care authority with nearly 75 years of experience in the area of the provision of the delivery assistance and gynaecological services. At the Maternity Hospital, every year an average of 5000 deliveries are conducted, which is roughly a third of all the deliveries in the country.
The staff and technology
In order to ensure the highest possible quality of services to their clients and patients, the activities of the Riga Maternity Hospital are constantly being developed by taking care of the maintenance and upgrading of personnel qualification and introducing modern technologies and innovative business solutions. The Maternity Hospital recruits over 370 competent and experienced employees.
The Riga Maternity Hospital has the high-end ultrasound equipment and improved, modern rooms. In the Prenatal Diagnostic Center, services are provided by prenatal diagnostic experts registered by the National Health Service who have acquired the international Fetal Medicine Foundation certificate.
The modern Maternity Center, the only one in Latvia, was established in 2012 with the aid of the ERDF and the Riga City Council. There are delivery rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, for the new mothers there is created an individual, cosy environment and for the specialists involved in the maternity care – good working conditions and the opportunity to provide quality maternity care.
The Riga Maternity Hospital has technologically the best equipped Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the country, staffed by neonatologists with considerable experience in the resolution of complex health issues of the new-borns and with skills in applying state-of-the-art treatment methods and technology.
The perinatal care quality indicators of the Riga Maternity Hospital are significantly better than the national average ones.

The Maternity Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient services for pregnant women, puerperal women, the new-borns and gynaecological patients.
In the Maternity Hospital, the ultrasonography is performed ambulatory for adults and the new-borns, as well as X-ray imaging and electrocardiography, and a variety of specialists are available – a specialist in child neurology, ophthalmologist, internist, anaesthesiologist and nutrition specialist who also provide consultancy. At the day hospital of the Riga Maternity Hospital, pregnant women and patients with gynaecological diseases are treated.

Education
The Riga Maternity Hospital is the largest Latvian clinical training place on the issues related to maternity assistance. Students of the Riga Stradiņš University, the University of Latvia and the medical colleges are trained here and the post-graduate education for residents and doctors is provided here as well.
At the Riga Maternity Hospital, scientific research is regularly carried out in the sphere of the maternity assistance and the new-born medical care.
